Want to improve your English while making friends abroad? TOMODACHI English makes this easy, without needing to go to a language school overseas.
 
With the concept of "
International Exchange × English Learning," TOMODACHI English offers weekly 60-minute online English lessons while connecting with overseas peers.

Practice conversations on interesting topics through one-on-one interactions, and chat casually on the group bulletin board outside of class to deepen friendships. Improve your English while enjoying multicultural experiences with overseas peers.

Program Overview

Features 

  • International Exchange: Students from diverse cultural backgrounds deepen mutual understanding and develop friendships and global perspectives through lessons and bulletin board interactions

  • English Immersion Environment: Classes are primarily conducted in English, providing ample opportunities for natural English use

  • Hybrid Lessons: Combines group lesson learning with individual practice in one-on-one interactions for an effective learning environment

  • Comprehensive English Improvement: Balanced learning of speaking, listening, writing, and reading skills

Target Audience

  • Students from grade 8 to grade 12

Class size 

  • Approximately 8 students (4 Japanese and 4 Indonesian)

Class Schedule & time

  • 60 minutes once a week (4 sessions per month)

  • Monday or Wednesday (See dates at the bottom of the page)

  • Choose from the following time slots (Jakarta time, UTC+7):

    • ​① 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM

    • ② 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM

    • ③ 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM

  • After you make your selection, we will coordinate with the schedules of Japanese students.

Model Session Structure

  • Lecture and group activities: 20 minutes

  • One-on-one interaction: 30 minutes

  • Reflection: 10 minutes

Duration for each Course

  • 3 Months (12 weeks)

  • Every 3 months, you will experience a new course with new friends

  • A certificate of completion will be issued for each course
    - Cancellation is possible on a monthly basis

FAQs

Registration Process

  • Please submit the application form.

  • We'll determine the date, time, and group based on your preferred dates and English level (may take 1-2 weeks).

  • We'll then send a payment URL via email. Once payment is confirmed, lessons will start from the beginning of the month.
     

One-on-one Interactions

  • One-on-one interactions will be conducted for about 30 minutes of the lesson time.

  • Enter separate breakout rooms for 1-on-1 conversations with overseas students, following instructor-guided themes and methods. (Sometimes 1-to-2 or 2-to-1)

  • Instructors and staff will circulate through the rooms to provide guidance and support.

 

The Group Bulletin Board

  • Once the groups are determined, you and the Japanese students will be invited to the online bulletin board.

  • There, following the instructor's guidance, you'll write self-introductions and daily events. You can also interact freely.
     

Can I Understand the Lessons Taught in English?

  • The lessons use clear and understandable English, with screen-shared materials. If you have an English proficiency level equivalent to CEFR A2 - B2 level, you should be able to understand the lessons.

  • Learning English in English helps improve your language skills efficiently. If you have any difficulties, supplementary explanations will be provided.
     

Are There Any Assignments?

  • In the weekly writing focus session once a month, you may be asked to post a diary on the group bulletin board.

  • You may also be asked to post self-introductions and other content on the group bulletin board.

  • You can check the text before the lesson, allowing you to preview vocabulary and phrases.
     

Rescheduling and Cancellations.

  • Rescheduling is not possible due to fixed group lesson membership.

  • Cancellation is allowed once per term (3 months) if notified to the office 24 hours in advance. The cancelled lesson fee will be deducted from future month's fees.
